Safety Operating Procedures for Steam Pipelines

2026-01-22

To ensure the safe operation of steam pipelines and prevent water hammer and thermal stress damage, the core of the operation is slow and thorough pipe warming. The main pressure reducing valve product names of China Pressure Reducing Valve Network include:Direct Effect-Type diaphragm Spring Reducing Valve, diaphragm Adjustable Reducing And Stabilized Valve,DJY Series Motor-driven Reducing Valve,Electric Double Seat Steam Reducing Valve,diaphragm-Type Reducing Valve,Features And Functions Of Corrugated Pipe Reducing Valve,GAS Reducing Valve,Hige Sensitivity Steam Reducing Valve

I. Key Steps for Pipe Warming Pressure relief valves

1.  Preparation: Inspect the pipeline network and open all drain valves to completely discharge condensate.

2.  Initial Steam Admission: Open the main steam valve or its bypass valve extremely slowly (initial opening not exceeding half a turn). Control the heating rate (recommended 50°C per half hour).

3.  Critical Control Phase: Extra caution is required when warming 1.0MPa steam to 160-200°C (the transition phase from saturated to superheated steam), as this stage is prone to water hammer and leakage.About Pressure relief valve

4.  Abnormality Handling: If vibration or water hammer occurs, immediately close the valve, enhance drainage, and resume slow valve opening only after conditions return to normal.

5.  System Integration: Slowly open the steam inlet valve of the steam header to equalize pressure, while paying attention to drainage.Pressure relief valveNews

6.  Sectional Drainage: Check each drainage point along the flow direction one by one. Close the drain valve at a point only after it discharges dry steam. Repeat until steam is observed at the pipeline end.

7.  Completing Warm-up: After steam appears at the end, slowly open the main steam valve further to reach the required pressure. After valves are fully open, turn them back half a turn to prevent seizing due to thermal expansion.

8.  Final Inspection: Inspect the pipeline for any abnormalities.

II. Daily Safety Essentials

1.  Burn Prevention: Wear appropriate protective gear during operation.

2.  Standardized Operation: Avoid standing directly in front of discharge outlets. Operate drain valves in the sequence: "Open the first valve before the second; close the second valve before the first." Operate all valves smoothly, avoiding sudden full opening or closing.

3.  Shutdown Management: After steam is shut off, promptly open drain valves to remove condensate and prevent vacuum damage to the system.

4.  Coordinated Operation: Fully communicate and coordinate with the steam supplier before initiating or ceasing steam use to avoid significant system fluctuations.
